The iconic Sun & Crab flag represents the initial settlement of Oguaa kɔtɔkoraba, which is connected to the plentiful crabs that thrived in the low-lying regions near Cape Coast Castle.
Additionally, the crab symbolizes the military strategies employed during the conflicts with the Ashanti Kingdom from 1806 to 1896.
Proverb meaning:
If all the rain falls and the stars and sun appear but the crab does not come out, no lagoon can empty its waters into the sea.
