The iconic sun symbolizes the ultimate source of vitality and renewal and the crab is an emblem by the Oguaa people of Cape Coast as a fearless warrior known for its claws.

Cape Coast has a statue honoring the crab Nana Kotowuraba, one of the many deities of NKUM Asafo No.4 Company.
